Life Before Pengineer
Pengineer, founded 9 years ago, is built on the philosophy of providing the highest quality dog products, such as KYUNGLAS and ABUBA. Pengineer is a dog product brand founded by two individuals deeply passionate about improving the lives of dogs. I’m CM, one of the founders and the company’s director.

Even before I was born, my family was what you’d call an “animal-loving household.” My father’s favorite TV show was Animal Kingdom, and mine was Animal Farm. There’s a photo of me at 100 days old with a newborn goat by my side. Another picture shows me as a toddler, with a group of puppies joyfully trailing behind me.

Growing up surrounded by animals was full of heartwarming and funny memories, but it also meant experiencing the pain of saying goodbye. Among all the animals, dogs were always more than pets to me—they were family.
Looking back, it seems almost inevitable that I ended up in the dog product business. However, it wasn’t something I initially planned. The journey truly began 10 years ago when I lost my beloved dog, Soli.
Saying Goodbye to Soli
Soli was 13 years old when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I didn’t hope for a miracle; I just wanted her remaining days to be as comfortable as possible. We started chemotherapy, but three months later, she passed away.

What I was left with was overwhelming regret. I had spent so much time going to and from the vet that I hadn’t made any meaningful final memories with her.

After Soli’s passing, I noticed my other dog, Lime, showing signs of separation anxiety and depression. Through caring for Lime, I made a promise to live fully in the present with my dogs.
“Don’t dwell on the past. Don’t fear the future. Be present now. And when the time comes to part with Lime, I won’t have regrets.”
This became my mantra and the foundation for the life I’ve built with dogs.
A “Dramatic” Business Owner and Dog Parent
A friend once told me, “It’s just a dog.” Another joked, “If you ever have kids, you’ll probably be an overbearing helicopter parent!”

At first, I was offended, but later I realized they were right—at least about the level of care and attention I give. If being passionate about my dogs makes me “dramatic,” then so be it. To me, it simply means extraordinary love and effort.
At Pengineer, we create products that some might see as excessive or inconvenient. Our products require thoughtfulness, consideration, and care. They’re not impulse buys.

Take ABUBA dog backpack, our best-selling carrier for mid-sized dogs, which has been #1 for nine years. When we first launched it, people scoffed: “Why carry a dog when it can walk?” An elderly lady once commented, “Why don’t you carry your mother like that?”
And then there’s Kyunglas dog goggles, a product born from two years of research and development. When people see dogs wearing them, I often hear: “Why does a dog need goggles?” “That poor thing looks ridiculous!”
At first, such remarks hurt. But now, nine years later, I’ve learned to brush them off. Those people were never our customers.
Our customers are the ones who see the value in what we do:
- The pet parent who carries a 30kg dog in an ABUBA dog backpack and says it’s the happiest thing they’ve ever done.
- The caregiver of a terminally ill dog who buys Kyunglas to protect their dog’s eyes and make their final days more comfortable.
These are the people we serve, and they remind us why we stick to our philosophy, no matter the criticism.

Our 9-Year Philosophy: Quality Above All Else
There’s a saying: “You can tell a lot about a person by what they create.” I believe this applies to companies as well. At Pengineer, we’ve been called stubborn and even unreasonable, but this persistence is what drives us to create truly exceptional products.

For nine years, we’ve been guided by one principle:
Create products that fit perfectly, are made with the best materials, and improve the lives of dogs.

Since dogs can’t tell us what they need, we test our products hundreds of times. We ask ourselves:
- Does this truly make the dog comfortable?
- What could cause discomfort?
- How can we improve it?
This dedication even led me to become a certified dog trainer, as understanding canine body language and behavior is essential for creating better products.
Why We Do What We Do
People often ask, “Why don’t you have more products?”
My answer is simple: We only make what we’re truly good at.

We don’t follow trends or chase profit. Instead, we focus on creating products that dogs and their owners genuinely need. That’s the responsibility of a brand with integrity.
If we had prioritized quick profits, we wouldn’t have survived the challenges of the past decade. But by staying true to our mission, we’ve built a brand that customers trust.
At Pengineer, we strive to take one step closer to creating a better world for dogs and their humans. We believe this is our purpose—what we were meant to do in this life.
And we’re just getting started.
